What is the Anime Festival?

The New York Anime Festival is a convention, held annually for animes and mangas at the Jacob K. Javits Center, Midtown Manhattan. There are screenings, guests flooding in from all countries especially Japan and America, new video games, anime fashion, Japanese Cinema and cultural performances on Japan.

When Is It?

25th – 27th September 2009. The Exhibition Hall will be allowed to be visited by the public on all 3 days, from 1 PM to 7 PM, 10 AM to 7 PM and 10 AM to 5 PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Where Is It?

The New York Anime Festival is to be held at The Jacob K. Javits Center, Midtown Manhattan. 655 west 34th street is the exact address of the Javtis Center.

Do we need a Ticket?

Every visitor who is above the age of 7 years will have to buy a ticket. Younger children can go in free with an adult with him/her buying his ticket. THE NYAF suggests an adult to accompany their 18 year old or lesser sibling to the festival.

Is Taking Pictures Allowed?

More or less, there is no prohibition for shooting videos or clicking pictures but for obvious reasons, cameras will not be allowed at places where screenings and concerts are going on. Also, the visitors are expected to respect the privacy of the guests while clicking pictures of them or with them. Any picture taken without their permission must be deleted.

Who’s broadcasting the Event?

The NYAF is being covered by G4, Conan O’Brien, Sci fi Ninja Theater and TV Aichi. If you visit the NYAF, you’re presumed to have given your consent to be clicked and published.

Will I get Autographs?

There are Autograph Rooms as well as Exhibition Halls where you can ask the guests to sign an autograph for you. But it should be ensured that you cannot ask the guests to autograph your bootleg merchandise. Also, respect the privacy of the guests on the issue of having a photograph or autographing objectionable items.

Does NYAF Supports Bootlegs?

Any trading of unlicensed merchandise will not be endured by the NYAF in any case. Bootlegs spoil the NYAF’s celebration of the best animes. Visitors who violate this rule will not be tolerated at any cost and will be asked to leave the festival immediately.

Is Javits WI-Fi connected?

The answer is in the affirmative. You have to pay to use Wi-Fi at the Javits, which would be $4.95 an hour, providing a surfing speed of 128kbps. You can pay through a credit card right on spot. You should also not try to use your data cards in the campus as Javits does not support or sell any wireless cards.
